But dammit, she missed him. Missed the arrogant tone which would fill his voice whenever he got to talking about "The Man". As if he'd ever seen a man. His first view of a human was at the other end of that stupid net, and what sort of view was that, really. She hoped he liked it in his new world. She really, honestly hoped that he liked it. Part of what had attracted him to her in the first place was his deep and abiding discontent with jungle life. She had hoped that family life would give him some sort of happiness, and perhaps it had. He never complained about her or about the children. But deep within those glazed and gleaming eyes, she could tell that he was still looking for something "out there". It wasn't stupid of him to dream, she tried to tell herself. Everybody should have a dream, even lemurs in Madagascar. She should have a dream. She realized this with a suddeness that almost knocked her off her log. Lemurs are not given to epiphanies. Their revelations generally come slowly, after many a nights thinking and a days dreaming. But this... this struck her to the very quivering core of her being. Looka needed a dream.

And her dream would not be Pongo's dream of domination, but a dream of service to lemurkind. Looka had given up dreaming while the children were young.
