Harlan was up late that night, in his basement. He hadn't felt this sense of purpose since had raced his Porsche into the side of a 7-11. Clearly, he had been a different man then. Since them, a year of enforced relaxation. At first enjoyable, but after a few months, he wondered if his mind was slowing. Without work, without challenge, without the emotional release of feeling his sharp instruments cutting, slicing... well, he knew it couldn't last.

He admired the fangs. Sharp. Primal. Carefully, he reached towards the overgrown incisors. He admired his own hands. So fine, no tremor. He still had it. Lovingly, he rubbed his index finger against the jutting canine. A bright red drop of blood fell from his finger tip onto the bib.

"Jesus, you scared me!" Harlan cried as he step away from the beast's warm body. "What the hell are you doing at the zoo?"

"What the hell do you think your doing?" The psychiatrist watched in horror as blood cripped from the corners of the creature's mouth".

"I was melting...becoming weak...I missed the dental office. I swear, Abigail, I'm not suicidal any more! Look, just look at that crown -- as good as new!"

The creature twitched.

Harlan waved the stump where his right hand had been.

"Now, spit! Spit!" he urged the feline.

The psychiatrist fled.
