Then there was another pressing call. Completed, the giraffe returned its attention to its goal. 

Suddenly, the whiff of lion on the wind sent the entire giraffe herd sprinting towards safety. Flight would really be handy now, it thought, but no time to work it out. 

Out of range at last, the giraffe slowed, puffing and heaving. It extended its long neck downwards to the stream and drank deeply. 

And now the sun descended. It was time to sleep.
