"Excuse me, miss, but you seem to have lost your context," said a warm, rich voice, which sounded not at all annoyed, if slightly amused. Jane began to apologize as she turned to speak to the aristocratic-looking woman, but something about the twinkle in the woman's eye stopped her. Jane smiled and said, "No, I've just found it, actually, and it's a rather disorienting experience."
"I know just what you mean, my dear," said the woman. "I stumbled into my life just a few years ago, and it took me completely by surprise." By this time the waiter had come by with damp towels and wiped up most of the mess, stopping short at mopping the mess off of Jane herself. She dabbed herself with her napkin as she gathered up her sticky belongings and, coworkers forgotten, headed toward the door of the restaurant, thinking hard about what her next step should be.
